What to watch

Chilled and frozen meat, seafood and food products need reefer containers with a continuous cold chain and official health certification. Halal slaughter certification is a core requirement for many Middle East buyers.

Only establishments approved by the importing country may export; check the list before booking.

Halal certifiers must be recognised by the destination authority (for example in the UAE, Saudi Arabia).

Temperature logs can be requested by buyers and insurers.

Cargo insurance should explicitly cover temperature deviation and reefer breakdown.
